Fairy Cottage Craft

Begin with some cardboard, a milk carton, paint, and a craft stick.

Add moss and bark and twigs and pine cones and flowers.

Build in some raffia and acorns and stones and gems and feathers.

Mix it up with a child's imagination and gentle coaching from librarians.

And look at the village filled with fairy cottages!

The summer library program for children had a fairy cottage craft day on July 23rd. Keep an eye on the library's Kid's Page on Facebook for future programs and more photographs.

Ice Cold Lemonade

On the way home from the Post Falls Festival, Dale and I stopped by this sign. It's great living in a community that's still small enough to have kid-run neighborhood lemonade stands.

These are four of the kindest, most energetic, wanting-to-please lemonade stand owners you'll ever find. The entrepreneurs? A group of four cousins. Their goal? To raise some money for an upcoming family reunion. We were happy to help them out.

Besides, who could resist this proprietor?

Everybody Loves a Festival!

Last weekend our town put on the big show of the year ... our annual festival and carnival and live music and tours about town. Walking into Q'emiln Park, one is inundated with the aromas of all the best kinds of fair food: corn dogs on a stick, cotton candy, BBQ anything that moooos, polish sausage with sauerkraut, elephant ears and, my favorite ...

That was our first stop.
There's nothing quite like this combo of sweet and salty to say, "Let's Party!"

(We party pretty passively).

Learning the Ropes

Getting Schooled

The goslings at Falls Park needed to be taught a thing or two about those featherless two-armed creatures -- especially the ones holding cameras.
